CONCORD, NH — More than $1 billion in sports bets have been wagered during the past two years, according to the New Hampshire Lottery. The $1 billion mark was crossed earlier this month, according to the Lottery, and its sports betting vendor, DraftKings. During that time, more than 23 million bests were made on games, officials said. "We are incredibly proud to reach the $1 billion milestone in total dollars wagered, as we also celebrate the two-year anniversary of sports betting's inception in New Hampshire," Charlie McIntyre, the executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery, said. "In such a short period of time, sports betting has become a massive success for New Hampshire, generating more than $30 million in direct support for New Hampshire education. Our success over the past two years demonstrates that sports betting is a perfect fit for our market. We are pleased with what we have accomplished and we are excited to continue growing sports betting as a revenue driver supporting our schools." Three retail sports betting locations have also opened during the past 18 months — DraftKings Sportsbook at The Brook in Seabrook and DraftKings Sportsbook at Filotimo in Manchester and Dover. "New Hampshire sports betting has achieved such remarkable success in our first two years, cementing New Hampshire as the premier sports betting destination in the northeast, driving more than $30 million in critical support for our schools," Gov. Chris Sununu said. "I look forward to celebrating this incredible milestone by placing a bet on our New England Patriots this weekend as they kick-off the playoffs on their way to another Super Bowl. Sports betting was the right bet for New Hampshire and the Patriots are always the right bet for Granite Staters." Last year's Super Bowl was the largest single-game sports betting event during the past two years, generating more than $7.1 million in wagers. To celebrate the two-year anniversary, the lottery and Draft Kings are offering a promotion: When new users bet at least $10 on any NFL Wildcard playoff game or when existing users double the odds on the Patriots to win the Super Bowl, they will receive a $20 free bet, according to the lottery. The New Hampshire Lottery and DraftKings have surpassed the $1 billion mark in total sports wagering since sports betting's inception in New Hampshire just two years ago. Queen City Chief Says, 'Thank You' The reward for information on the whereabouts of a missing New Hampshire girl has reached $104,000. Harmony Montgomery, 7, has not been seen since October 2019, and during the past two weeks, police in Manchester as well as state and federal investigators, have been frantically trying to find her. The latest commitments to the effort include $3,000 from TJ Florence of TF Contracting in Hooksett, an anonymous donation of $1,000 from a person in Boston, $5,000 from Brandon Brooks of New England Dieselz in Hillsboro, and $1,000 from Philip Dipaolo from Clearwater, Florida. The department has received a number of tips about the case as well as monetary support, too. "I would like to thank all the business men and women, as well as private donors who have promised to give," Chief Allen Aldenberg of the Manchester Police Department said. "I believe there is someone out there that has information about this little girl's disappearance and I hope this reward gives them the incentive to come forward." PETA Bus Ads Promote Saving Seals People for the Ethical Treatment Of Animals has a new billboard adorning public buses in New Hampshire — a seal caught in fishing nets. The org said harp seals around New England are getting caught in fishing gear which is leading to the killing of creatures not associated with the fishing industry. The billboard hopes to influence viewers by promoting a vegan diet ending the death of "millions of fish who are pulled out of their ocean homes and who suffocate or are gutted alive on the decks of fishing boats." The org said 640,000 tons of fishing gear are left in the ocean taking more than 600 years to break down. The gear and lines are often "death traps" for seals, turtles, and other mammals and sea creatures. Photo courtesy of PETA Here is everything else going on in New Hampshire right now.
