NEW LENOX, IL — The Chicago Division Postal Inspection Service said Thursday that they have "initiated a mail theft investigation" at the New Lenox Post Office, located at 300 N. Vine St., though when the investigation was launched remains unclear.
A spokesperson for the Postal Inspection Service told Patch in an email Thursday that because this is an ongoing investigation, no further information could be provided. The spokesperson also did not say if any other law enforcement agencies were participating in the investigation.
Patch reported Tuesday that the outside mailboxes were sealed off. Post office officials said at that time that they could not comment as to the reason for the mailboxes being sealed.
