LAKE COUNTY, IL — The College of Lake County has pushed back the start date of its spring semester due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.
A return to in-person instruction will be delayed by one week at all College of Lake County campuses, college officials announced earlier this week. Students who are attending blended classes or enrolled for in-person classes will now return on Jan. 24.
Students who are attending classes online or via Zoom will start as scheduled on Jan. 18, according to CLC news release. Clinicals and non-credit classes are also expected to start on Tuesday.
A post-holiday surge in COVID-19 cases, spurred by the omicron variant, lead to the College of Lake County's decision to delay a return to in-person instruction and to modify its spring semester schedule, college officials said in a Tuesday statement.
When students return, N95 and surgical masks will be available on campus for them to use, according to statement. In addition, Café Willow seating has been modified to maximize physical distancing when individuals are unmasked while eating or drinking.
CLC still plans to end the year on May 13 and will offer instruction and final examinations during its last week of school.
More information is available on the College of Lake County's website.
