Press release from the City of Raleigh: Jan 12, 2022 Dix Park's first-ever Pop-up Museum hosts two inspiring history exhibits: Plantation to Park, presenting the layered history of Dix Hill and We Built This, a showcase of Black architects and builders in North Carolina. Exhibits will be on display at the Dix Park Chapel Event Center from January 15 – February 27, 2022. A public opening reception will take place Saturday, January 15 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm featuring special guests speaking about the significance of the exhibits and a performance by Pierce Freelon, Grammy-nominated musician, and son of the late architect Phil Freelon (who is featured in the exhibit). Remarks and a musical performance will take place from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. The reception will be held under an open-air heated tent on the Chapel Event Lawn with light refreshments. Both exhibits will be inside the Chapel Event Center. Masks are required in all indoor spaces and in the outdoor tent.
