Father Arrested After Toddler Accidentally Shot, Killed: Police

PHOENIX, AZ — The father of a 2-year-old boy who was killed in what police believe was an accidental shooting Thursday has been arrested, according to police. Joshua Lewis, 29, was booked into Maricopa County Jail on suspicion of child abuse, police said. Joshua Lewis is accused of keeping a loaded gun in a place where his toddler son could get to it, according to police. Kayden Lewis was taken to a local hospital in critical condition after he was accidentally shot around 4:30 p.m. near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road Tuesday, police said. He ultimately died from his injuries.
