Press release from the University of Alabama at Birmingham: January 12, 2022 This photo was taken prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.The Alabama Dance Festival and the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center will present dance performances by staibdance from Jan. 20-23 and Bodytraffic on Saturday, Jan. 22. Atlanta-based contemporary dance company staibdance will perform free shows at 6:30 p.m. nightly Jan. 20-23. Staibdance values the provocative power of movement. Through performances, workshops and intensives, staibdance celebrates our dynamic cultural ecosystem, and ignites conversations to foster community. Performances and classes ask participants to lose themselves and find themselves through evocative imagery both on the stage and in the studio classroom. This is a free, ticketed event, in the Alys Stephens Center's Odess Theatre. To attend, register online. Bodytraffic is a world-class contemporary dance company known internationally for its Los Angeles-grown vivacity. Bodytraffic pushes boundaries and has established LA as a city known for dance. The company is deeply committed to producing acclaimed works by distinctive choreographic voices, all while surging to the forefront of the contemporary dance world.
