POSITION: Journeyman/woman STATUS: Full Time, Non-exempt hourly LOCATION: Ithaca, NY Position Summary: Rocco Design + Build seeks a seasoned Journeyman Carpenter to perform-high quality, journey-level carpentry work on all of our exciting, custom projects. Will will rely on your expertise to fabricate and install wood framework and custom millwork and ask that your technical skill serves as an example and inspiration to our wonderful team. Specific Duties & Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include all tasks related to rough carpentry and finish carpentry, including but not limited to: drywall, framing, window and door installation, insulation, trim, porch and deck construction, casework, built-ins, stairs, and cabinetry. Tiling and interior painting a plus Research new methods, materials, and trends in carpentry Must be able to accurately create quantity takeoffs required for projects related to rough carpentry and finish carpentry Must have all necessary carpentry hand, power, and measuring tools General Duties & Responsibilities: Perform own high quality work according to RDB design documents, drawings, and procedures. Train and evaluate others’ work performance and technical skill Work effectively and collaboratively with subcontractors on site Advise Project Manager or Project Lead of material needs; proactively procure day-to-day materials required as needed Utilize, maintain, and update job management software on a timely basis so others can assess project status in real time Communicate with RDB Project Manager and Project Lead using technology (laptop/tablet/phone) Communicate professionally with clients on site Be decisive to ensure timely project progress. Communicate with Project Manager and Project Lead on issues or exceptions that require their approval. Oversee team member’s others’ work to ensure quality and timeliness Job Requirements: Advanced, Journey-level carpentry competencies and knowledge of safe work practices acquired with experience (3-5 years minimum) Must be fluent with using electronic means of communication, inclusive of emailing, at a minimum Must possess a journeyman-level tool inventory to bring daily or as-needed to a job site Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints and related design drawings Mathematically able to make required calculations for materials needed on job Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation Personal Protective Equipment, including steel-toed work boots Email [email protected] with a copy of your resume.
