Maintenance Worker, Lemon Grove General Information Job Title: Maintenance Worker Location: 8001 Palm Street Lemon Grove, CA, 91945 This is an On Call position. Job Category: Maintenance and Facilities Job Summary: The Maintenance Worker is responsible for the overall repair, upkeep and safe operation of Fred Finch Youth & Family Service facilities (owned and leased), including, but not limited to painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, light construction, documentation of repairs, as well as delivery of and pickup of maintenance supplies. This position is also responsible for assisting with agency vehicle maintenance as needed. The Maintenance worker is expected to perform routine and preventive maintenance and repairs for assigned building(s), facilities and equipment, ensuring technical operations are in proper working order. Duties and Responsibilities: Maintenance: 1) Makes repairs of agency assets, including, but not limited to buildings, equipment, furniture, and building apparatuses (e.g., doors, windows, lights, floor coverings, etc.). 2) Completes painting; plumbing and electrical work at all agency buildings. 3) Moves furniture. 4) Provides light carpentry as needed. 5) Maintains all facilities in safe and sanitary condition. 6) Ensures all scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PMs) tasks are completed in a timely fashion. Safety: 1) Completes safety-related inspections as assigned. 2) Monitors ticketing system to track and respond to safety-related projects immediately, resolving the issue within two (2) hours and/or ensure proper precautions are taken to maintain a safe environment until a permanent resolution is completed. 3) Participates, as assigned, in emergencies including, but not limited to fires, earthquakes, gas leaks; communicating with management and maintaining safety during such incidents (e.g., shut off utility mains, help evacuate staff, etc.). Customer Service: 1) Provides friendly supportive service to program and departments staff in response to tickets and requests, redirecting them as necessary to management when their requests cannot be addressed within their expected timeframe, or when requests are made outside the ticketing system. 2) Answers cellphone and responds to emails/text in a timely manner throughout shift. Vehicles: 1) Drives agency vehicles of picking up or delivering items as needed or transport a vehicle to a repair shop. 2) Assists with vehicle maintenance and support the completion of repairs in collaboration with the Administrative Purchasing Assistant, as needed. Documentation: 1) Reports the need for repairing or replacement of equipment and ordering of supplies. 2) Documents project status updates in the ticketing system, to keep management and requesting staff informed. 3) Communicates directly with requesting staff, to provide project status and/or completion updates. General: 1) Ensures all assigned work is being completed safely, accurately, and with the goal to prevent/minimize recurrence. 2) Reports all emergency/safety-related issues are reported and followed up in a timely fashion. Compliance: 1) Maintains excellent professional boundaries and adheres to all professional ethical standards including abuse reporting, maintenance of participant confidentiality and FF. 2) Adheres to all agency and program policies including Boundary Code of Ethics, Core Competencies, Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook and state and federal regulations. Professional Development: 1) Attends weekly individual supervision, staff meetings and actively works toward developing professional skills. 2) Participates in trainings and provides training as assigned. Other Duties: 1) Participates, on a rotating basis, in on-call coverage per scheduled rotation. 2) Assists other maintenance staff as needed. 3) Assumes tasks of other maintenance staff in event of absence of that staff, as assigned. 4) Completes other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required: Education: High School Diploma or GED or a minimum of four (4) years of experience in general facility maintenance. Valid California Driver’s License (or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire) and good driving record. Ability to drive vans and light trucks safely if assigned to driving duties. A minimum of one (1) year’s general maintenance experience in building/equipment, maintenance and carpentry and repairs A minimum of one years’ experience in plumbing maintenance. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use a variety of shop equipment and tools. Working knowledge of building materials and their use. Demonstrated knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Demonstrated knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with co-workers and staff and to develop helpful relationships with the participants we serve. Basic computer skills and/or demonstrated aptitude to use computer-based technologies i.e. Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Preferred Possession of a certificate in plumbing maintenance. Communication Must be able to comprehend, follow and clearly convey instructions. Physical Activities Ability to climb stairs/ladders. Ability to reach overhead to conduct building maintenance, repair and upgrades. Ability to reach and retrieve stacked items, etc. Must be able to bend/kneel/squat/stretch and lift as much as 50 lbs. Must be able to stand/walk 75% of work day. Must be able to operate power machinery; i.e. rug shampoo cleaners, power saws, and light carpentry tools.
