ACHIEVING BIRTH EQUITY CONFERENCE Presented by: Birth Equity & Justice, St. Joseph County, a community action committee of Maternal Infant Health Initiatives at the St. Joseph County Department of Health, South Bend, Indiana. April 14, 2022 at the Century Center, South Bend, IN. 8:30am - 4:30pm Presenting sponsor: Indiana Minority Health Coalition *Birth Equity (noun): 1. the assurance of the conditions of optimal births for all people with a willingness to address racial and social inequalities in a sustained effort. In St. Joseph County, Indiana and across the country, the infant mortality rate for Black infants is 2-3 times higher than the mortality rate for white infants. This disparity is unacceptable and we can change it. When we do, birth outcomes will improve for all families. At the Achieving Birth Equity conference, you'll learn how to help make your community a place where all birthing families can access respectful, quality maternity care through action in policy, clinical care, and community engagement. Breakout Sessions and Conference Webpage to be announced soon. Topics to include: Policy & Legislation, Strategies for Birthing Professionals, Connecting Community Based Care to Clinical Care, Maternal Mental Health, Implicit Bias, Medicaid 101. Permission to grant continuing education credits in progress at this time. For questions and additional sponsorship information, please contact: Sally Dixon, RN.
