The Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) is proud to announce the inaugural Anti-Violence Film Festival (AVFF) on Friday, Feb. 18, and Saturday, Feb. 19. The film festival will address themes of violence that permeate our culture across the spectrum.
All film screenings are free and open to the public and there will be content warnings before each film. Volunteers from the Women’s Center will be onsite to support audience members as needed, in addition to advocates from survivor support groups.
“This has been in the works for a long time and we look forward to hosting OVP's first film festival,” said Kanoe Montano, Office of Violence Prevention coordinator. “We value all of our partners and are thankful for all the work that has gone into making this possible.”
AVFF was created in partnership with several student and off-campus organizations: Multicultural Affairs, The Walter Young Center, Alumni Engagement, the College of Arts and Sciences, CU@Night, The Women's Center and Diverse & Resilient.
Students, faculty, staff and the wider community are welcome to bring family and friends to these free film screenings, followed by specially curated, post-screening film discussions with experts in the field.
