Groove Grease is back for another Thursday JAM!! They've brought the funky goods to Sewanee ever since we reopened for live music. Come check out what's in store this Thursday! TICKETS ONLY $10 Shenanigans Upstairs is excited to announce that Groove Grease will take the stage each first and third Thursday of the month. This ticket purchase will be for the January 20th show. But plan ahead! MEET THE BAND... Guitarist Pat Bergeson moved to Nashville from New York City at the request of none other than Chet Atkins, who invited him to record and tour. A jaw-dropping jazz harmonica player as well as guitarist, Pat was named as one of the top twelve guitarists in an issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine. A style rooted in a life of jazz, his sound incorporates jazz, blues, rock and fingerstyle and he's known for his session and stage work with Lyell Lovett, Alison Krauss, Jerry Reed, Tommy Emmanuel, Michael McDonald, Bill Frisell, Bill Evans, Benny Golson and many others. Organist Charles Treadway is considered the top organist in Nashville. He's played with the finest jazz and blues musicians including Jack Pearson, Bruce Forman, Jimmy Hall and Duffy Jackson and in various musical settings. His organ stylings are reminiscent of Jimmy Smith, Joey DeFrancesco, Jimmy McGriff and other greats. Drummer Derrek Phillips was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, has two Grammies to his credit, courtesy of GLORIA GAYNOR (“Testimony”, 2020) and MIKE FARRIS (“Shine For All The People”, 2014). Over the course of his career, Derrek has worked with BRETT ELDREDGE, CHARLIE HUNTER, BRITTANY HOWARD, JOHN CARTER CASH, DR. JOHN, KURT ELLING, ALISON KRAUSS, DELBERT MCCLINTON and HANK WILLIAMS, JR. Derrek’s drumming can also be heard on “NASHVILLE” TV SHOW SOUNDTRACK”, and recordings by VANESSA WILLIAMS, MICHAEL MCDONALD, BLANCO BROWN, the MCCRARY SISTERS, SETH WALKER and ROBBEN FORD. In the video: Guitarist Pat Bergeson takes an exciting solo to a spirited audience as "Groove Grease" (and friends) took the stage Upstairs at Shenanigans in Sewanee, TN.
