World premiere for the short films, "WISH YOU WERE HERE" and "Vy" Come catch the world premiere for two new Kansas City short films, Joe Pieken's VY and Ryan Njenga's WISH YOU WERE HERE. VY follows James (Dan Daly) and Agatha (Nicole Hall), as their web of lines untangles as each of them fight for survival and happiness. The film is written & directed by Joe Pieken. WISH YOU WERE HERE is a romantic dramedy following Gloire Umaru (Jelani Talib) and Stella Mohammed (Breunna Franklin) as they look back on their relationship and try to answer the big question: where did things go wrong? Told in a series of flashbacks and therapy sessions over a half-hour, the film explores love and relationships in the modern context, while also confronting party culture, art, social media, identity, memories and the effects they have on their young romance. The film is produced by a crew of talented, up-and-coming, award-winning Kansas City-based filmmakers and creatives, including Ryan Njenga (GORGEOUS, Switzer Lofts), Jelani Talib (Bel-Air), Connor Sandheinrich (Uninvited), Jacob Schermerhorn (Uninvited), Dylan Groves (NINE2NEVER) and many more.
