Beverly To Distribute Free Rapid Coronavirus Tests To Residents

BEVERLY, MA — Beverly residents who have been scouring supermarkets and drug stores for at-home rapid coronavirus tests will have their next chance to get a free one courtesy of the city on Thursday. Mayor Mike Cahill said on Wednesday that the city will distribute the free rapid antigen tests Thursday from 1 to 6 p.m. on a drive-thru basis at Lynch Park. There is a limit of one test kit per individual and two kits per household. Each kit includes two tests. The event is open to Beverly residents only and proof of residency will be required. Beverly municipal employees will also receive test kits at work this week to take home. The rapid tests are in addition to PCR testing taking place on Wednesday and Sunday at Beverly High School. Registration for Wednesday's clinic is closed, but walk-ins will be accepted as supplies allow from 4 to 8 p.m. Those coming for testing are asked to wear warm clothes as the line may extend outside. The Sunday testing will also take place in the high school cafeteria from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. These two clinics are for the PCR nasal swab tests with results emailed within 24 to 48 hours.
