GAITHERSBURG, MD — A two-alarm fire started in the basement of a Gaithersburg townhome around left 20 people from six units without a home Wednesday morning, after crews came in to fight the blaze around 3 a.m. Nobody was injured, but one dog was still missing a few hours after the fire started, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer tweeted. There was an estimated $750,000 in damage to the building, and another $250,000 worth of personal items lost in the fire, he said. The townhouses were in the 300 block of West Deer Park Road. Authorities did not say what started the fire.
