JARRETTSVILLE, MD — A house in Jarrettsville was declared a total loss after a two-alarm house fire Wednesday morning, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. A neighbor discovered the blaze at 8:05 a.m. in the 3900 block of Grimm Road, investigators said. The homeowners were away at the time, according to authorities. About 50 firefighters responded, including crews from Bel Air, Jarrettsville and Whiteford, the fire marshal reported. It took crews about an hour to bring the fire under control, officials said. Nobody was injured, but the home was declared a complete loss, with $500,000 in damage, investigators reported. The house collapsed, according to the fire marshal.
