Press release from the City of Ankeny: 01/11/2022 5:16 p.m. On Jan. 8, 2022 at approximately 5 a.m., the Ankeny Police Department responded to the area of Campus Town on the report of suspicious activity.  A witness reported several individuals in the parking lot getting under cars with a Sawzall.  As a result of this report, a traffic stop was conducted on a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, which these individuals attempted to leave in as officers arrived.  Officers on scene investigated and as a result 3 adults and 2 juveniles were charged with two counts of Theft 2nd & Criminal Mischief 2nd.  Additionally, one of the adults was charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and multiple traffic offenses.  All three adults were taken to Polk Co. Jail and both juveniles were transported to Meyer Hall. Police Asking for Public Assistance  On Jan. 11, 2022, a search warrant was executed on the suspect vehicle which had been impounded and a total of 17 cut catalytic converters were located.  Detectives have been able to match up several of these catalytic converters, but are still seeking additional victims.  If the catalytic converter on your vehicle was stolen off of your vehicle the night of Jan. 7 into the morning of Jan. 8, please call the Ankeny Police Department and speak with Det.
