PLAINFIELD, IL — If you've been meaning to nominate a Plainfield School District 202 graduate to be considered for the Alumni Hall of Fame, it's not too late. District officials announced Wednesday a deadline extension through Jan. 19.
Had it not been for the extension, Wednesday would have been the final day for nominations.
The Alumni Hall of Fame, created by the Foundation for Excellence in 2011, was started to honor district graduates of at least 20 years "who have distinguished themselves beyond their high school years through their significant accomplishments or service," officials said.
By being inducted in the Hall of Fame, nominees — who should have made a "profound and positive international, national, regional or local impact" — will have their accomplishments or community service recognized through awards, honors or other forms of distinction.
Candidates will be accepted in the following fields.
Arts and entertainmentBusiness and commerceCommunity service and volunteerismEducation and humanitiesGovernment and militaryMedicine and healthPhilanthropy and nonprofitScience and technologySports and recreation Chosen inductees will be honored at the Foundation's annual dinner, typically held in April. People not chosen this year will be reconsidered for the next two years, and a candidate can be nominated again after three years.
