CALIFORNIA — Smokers have more to worry about than the habit's effects on their bodies. Cigarettes happen to be a particularly pricey vice. In the Golden State, smokers spend an average of $2,688,526 over a life, according to a recent WalletHub report. On average, smokers spend $56,011 per year on smoking. Tobacco use accounts for nearly half a million deaths in the U.S. every year, according to the Centers for Disease Control. And California ranks third among all states for new cases of lung cancer, according to the American Lung Association. "To encourage the estimated 34.2 million tobacco users win the U.S. to kick this dangerous habit, Wallethub looked not the true per-person cost of smoking..." according to its report. California was ranked among the most expensive places for smokings to purchase cigarettes.
