HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Two men robbed a Highland Park gas station at gunpoint early Wednesday before fleeing north on Route 41, police said. Dispatchers got a call at 2:23 a.m. that the duo had robbed Casey's convenience store and gas station at 1333 Half Day Road a few minutes earlier, according to Highland Park Police Deputy Chief William Bonaguidi. One of the two suspects brandished a handgun, and they ordered the clerk to the ground, police were told. The robbers then stole an undisclosed amount cash and cigarettes — as well as lottery tickets — before leaving the store and getting into a car parked in a neighboring lot, according to police. The two men, who both appeared to be in their mid-20s, fled in a dark-colored getaway car with a broken tail light. No detailed descriptions of the robbers were immediately available Wednesday. Bonaguidi said images of the incident are believed to have have been captured by security cameras. "Detectives are working with management," he told Patch in an email Wednesday afternoon, "to retrieve any potential video." There were no injuries from the robbery, said police, who asked anyone with any information about the incident to call them. Police said two men robbed, Casey's, 1333 Half Day Road, at gunpoint early Wednesday morning. The Mobil gas station on Route 41 was formerly known as Bucky's prior to the May 2021 purchase of Buchanan Energy by Casey's General Stores. (Google Maps)
