Lovable husky needs a friend!

Description
Rocky is our 6 yr old male husky. Very depressed after losing his BFF 2 years ago. I was working from home during covid and was able to fill the empty space for a while. But he's now alone about 5 hours a day. He's not happy and I can see it every morning when I tell him goodbye. We have a male tuxedo cat that has no fear and the two of them "kinda" play sometimes. But there's only so much play you can get out of a cat. I'm hoping to find the perfect fit for our family. I live in Columbia with my two sons - 12 and 16. We are a loving family and have the best home any dog could ever hope to find (IMO). I'm pretty easy going and not too concerned about the hair or furniture. I'm sorry but we can't consider bully breeds due to insurance and HOA regulations. I'd prefer to find a mid-sized, house-trained (or almost house trained) adult dog with a loving, playful temperament. One big enough to romp but not so heavy I can't lift him/her into my car when they're older. I've decided to be pro-active because dealing with all of the red tape involved in adopting through a rescue is exhausting. We are more than qualified. But you can only fill out so many 10 page applications! Someone else always gets the dog. I just don't get it because there's no way they have a better home to offer. Maybe they're being offered additional adoption bonuses or something. More about us... - We have large fenced back yard (6ft privacy fence) always accessible from pet door - I know he's a husky, but I have NEVER crated him (or any husky we've owned). I don't crate. - I never kennel my pets. We take them with us everywhere or have a friend dog-sit. I wouldn't drop my kid in a daycare for a week with a stranger. I won't do it to my dog. - I never drop my dogs at public groomers after seeing how our first husky trembled while standing on the table. I have mobile groomers come or do it myself. - Rocky sleeps in my bed. I let him and the cat figure it out. - I feed a high quality diet dry food. He gets a scoop of real tuna on top every night. - I share a little human food with him often. Some think it's unhealthy. I think life is short. - I sometimes take him for car rides just because he loves it more than walks. I cruise the neighborhood while he sticks his head out and he loves it. We hit the McDonald's drive thru and he gets a cheeseburger - plain. - He loves his home so much that we can't lose this dog. If he gets out, he whips around and returns to us the moment we call his name. And we reward him for it. - He carries on like a lost child when we try to work in the front yard. We have to bring him out and sometimes he's perfectly happy to sit in the car for an HOUR (windows down, or course) and watch us work because he knows we'll go for a ride after. (Really....this dog is spoiled beyond reason). - Our male cat bullies our female cat. Rocky very intentionally blocks him by pacing between them and laying between them. Never seen anything like it. - When the female cat isn't around, our male cat bullies Rocky and blocks him on the stairs and at the pet door. Hilarious. Rocky seems to forget he's bigger than the cat. He's a protector but not aggressive. - Rocky has escaped from our backyard ONCE in the 4 years we've owned him. His BFF was old and sick, collapsed in our backyard and couldn't get up. Rocky somehow got out which is how we were alerted that our other dog was sick. Hm.... - Toys, chewbones, treats, and more chewbones, and raw butcher bones. And a baby pool in the summer that he won't lay down in. Need I say more? If you have a great dog that needs a wonderful home and loving family, please message me! If you know someone who has a great dog that needs a home, please pass this along. Thank you!
