WARREN, MI — A woman from Warren was accused of fatally stabbing her husband Saturday during an argument, police said. Officers said they were called shortly before 2:00 a.m. to the 20000 block of Audrey Avenue, in the area of 8 Mile and Mound Roads near the Detroit border, where Shanika Thomas-Alexander stabbed her husband, Daetorian Thomas-Alexander, in the back. Daetorian Thomas-Alexander was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital, where he remained until he died Tuesday, police said. Shanika Thomas-Alexander, 34, was charged with assault with intent to murder in connection to her husband's death, but since her husband's death, the charges will be sent to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, where they are expected to be amended, police said. Bond for Shanika Thomas-Alexander was set at $500,000 and a preliminary exam has been scheduled for Jan. 25. Although police did not state what started the argument, officers said they do have evidence and information from husband and witness interviews indicating the stabbing happened after an argument.
