Question about Funeral expense?

My mother passed away last month unexpectedly due to a short illness. She was then transferred to the mortuary and now the owner of the mortuary called me and told me he needs $1,500 by day after tomorrow. I am in a really tight situation as I cannot get a loan from anyone right now because I am currently rebuilding my credit and I don't really have any extended family I can borrow from. I don't know what to do at this point?? I have even thought of having my mother transferred to another mortuary who can work with me regarding a payment plan.
