Description
Hi -
I'm a guitarist (26m, Ridgewood) and I'm looking to get back in the band scene since my pre-pandemic band is no more.
I'm not looking for something toooo serious – ideal situation is prob weekly practice and monthly gigs or so. I love playing and want an opportunity to meet folks and challenge myself a little bit. I'd love to also work on songwriting, both individually and collectively.
Style-wise, I do both rhythm and lead. Clean and plucky tone is the strong suit. I have a decent music theory background too and good knowledge of what notes will work – my favorite thing is playing rhythm up the neck embellished with what I call "wing-dings". It's a crowd pleaser! I have one single from my old band here (I'm the more subdued guitar): https://illegalseafood.bandcamp.com/track/sleep-alone and a couple really crappy clips.
Influence-wise, and I know there's a ton of us out here, I am very influenced by Jerry Garcia and the Dead. BUT that does not mean I really need to play that style of music – in fact, I'd prefer not to be in a Jam band. However please don't be mean to me for liking the Dead, multiple people on Craigslist have sent me nasty emails about it for some reason. I'm also into 90s alt (Sea and Cake is a fave), Kraut (CAN!), New Wave, Stereolab and other rhythmic synthy stuff, reggae/dub/dancehall, African psych artists like Hailu Mergia, and more recently into house and electronic.
I do own a bass and play it casually, have done a couple gigs before but it's certainly not my strong suit.
So if you've got a band forming or a gap to fill, or want to jam with a few people, hit me up!
