Wanted: Diesel truck expert/mechanic to help me look at truck?

I'm interested in an older diesel truck and I've read about issues like blow-by, glow plugs, and oil in the coolant. Until I get hands on with one it's kind of hard to say I'd know exactly what I was looking for? Anyone in this area can help?
