Description

“Store the jin like drawing a bow. Mobilize the jin like pulling silk from a cocoon. Release the jin like releasing the arrow.” Continued. Our first workshop of 2022 will be a repeat of our Moving Step Silk Reeling Workshop held in December because so many people wanted to attend but couldn't make it. On Jan 23 at 1PM we will be conducting a workshop on moving step Tai Chi silk reeling, 3rd part of our silk reeling workshop series. In the prior workshops, we learned the two basic circles and body connections and drilled them in various combinations on different plains. In this next workshop, we will take the next step, literally! We will be adding stepping to the silk reeling patterns. With moving steps, we will develop our awareness of weight transitions and the three external harmonies as we continue using the patterns we have learned. You will start to see more and more direct relationships to the forms you are learning. All are welcome! You do not need to have taken the earlier workshop to attend this workshop. Everyone who signs up for this workshop will receive a link to a prior silk reeling workshop video taught by Shifu Bob Shannon to gain familiarity with silk reeling concepts. Hope to see you at the workshop! This workshop is taught by Shifu Bob Shannon, head instructor of Chen style tai chi at Aiping Tai Chi Center. Shifu Bob Shannon has won numerous gold medals for Chen style tai chi in national and regional competitions. This workshop is designed for ALL Levels. Beginning students can jump start their tai chi study by gaining familiarity of important fundamental concepts. Advanced students can improve their tai chi by deepening their understanding of tai chi principles. Learn authentic Tai Chi, Qigong, and internal martial arts from the disciples of Grandmaster Aiping Cheng, one of China's most accomplished professional martial artists. Shifus Shirley Chock, Jonas Karosas, and Bob Shannon continue the tradition of authentic teaching but with an updated approach to connect with today's students.
