He has a wide range of musical experience, but has a strong base in the Jazz and Classical styles. For the past eight years, Given has consistently played in and around Chattanooga's venues, restaurants, parks, festivals, basements, backyards, and bars. In addition, he was invited on two international tours. Japan in 2014 with the New City Gospel Choir, and China in 2019 with Seaux Chill and Rise Chattanooga. Some of Given's current involvements include the Chattanooga Symphony, Moon Change, Figment Chamber Ensemble, Grassland String Band (Athens, GA), Robin Grant and The Standard, and more. Perhaps Given's most prominent endeavor is with the Chattanooga Jazz community; as the host of Chattanooga's only weekly Jazz Jam session (you're invited!), Given is invested in growing the local jazz scene. At age 27, Given is excited and hopeful about the opportunity he sees for music in Chattanooga. He has found a music community filled with amazing individuals and can't wait to bring it a littler closer to the ears of Chattanooga. The Woodshop is an intimate live music venue and neighborhood pub on the outskirts of the historic St. Elmo neighborhood. Since 2015, our goal has been to assemble and host a network of musicians and makers who are local to or traveling through the area. With our resources, they are able to create, present, or record their work in front of an appreciative audience.
