BROOKLYN, NY — A 14-year-old was punched in the face on the subway earlier this week in a possible hate crime targeting him and his family, according to police.
The 14-year-old was riding the 4 train near Atlantic Avenue station about 7:15 a.m. Monday when a man sat next to him and his two family members, police said.
"I don't like Mexicans," the man said, before punching the teen in the face, police said.
The punch left a laceration on the 14-year-old's nose, police said.
The man fled the train after the attack, but not before he was caught on video:
The incident is being investigated by the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force, according to a tweet the unit sent out early Tuesday.
