NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A suspect was arrested at his home in Queens after police say he tried to shoot his way through an apartment door during a domestic dispute. On January 7, shortly before 8 p.m., New Rochelle police were called to an apartment building over a domestic dispute, with a man trying to enter an apartment by firing through the front door. Police spotted the suspect fleeing from the scene. A brief chase ensued, but officers said the suspect, later identified as Muhammed Gumaneh, managed to escape. The victim, a 24-year-old New Rochelle woman, was not injured. New Rochelle detectives, working with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, the Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the U.S. Marshalls Service Fugitive Task Force, were able to find and apprehend Gumaneh at his Queens home earlier today. Gumaneh was charged with attempted assault, attempted burglary and reckless endangerment. The 27-year-old was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
