Press release from the Eat Justice Foundation: Jan. 11, 2022 Eat Justice, is a philanthropic movement that was started by Mecha Noodle Bar. The concept leverages its business model to raise money for good causes in the community while empowering company culture. By raising certain menu items 50 cents, Eat Justice can raise approximately $15k- $20k every month to local nonprofits of their staff's choosing. This month Eat Justice is partnering with the CT Chapter of The Cure Starts Now to spread awareness and raise research dollars in the fight against pediatric brain cancer. The Connecticut Chapter of The Cure Starts Now was formed in honor of the late Lea Doran, who was diagnosed with DIPG in August of 2017 at the age of 6. Lea's battle taught her community the truest forms of strength, courage and family. After her passing in May of 2018, that community was inspired to continue the fight against DIPG and other pediatric cancers and most importantly to continue to share the stories of Lea and children like her. To help spreading awareness, Eat Justice has launched a new web-series called SLURP N' SHARE, which spotlights the current month's cause and where stakeholders share perspective and slurp a delicious bowl of ramen. This month's episode features, Daryl Wells of Eat Justice sitting down with the parents of Lea Doran, Christa and Mike, as they share stories about their daughter Lea, the "brutiful" journey they've experienced and the community that's has supported them along the way. "Sharing really connects people…people need to be in spaces where they feel like they can be seen, and heard, not to be fixed," says Christa Doran. "When you see businesses that are really committed to doing more than just feeding people, it's really powerful. People are doing more than just getting dinner or getting soup…you can give back to the community." Eat Justice is committed to helping expand The Cure Starts Now community through this campaign, and continuing to share the story of the Dorans. Make your way to any Mecha Noodle Bar during the month of January to support. This press release was produced by the Eat Justice Foundation. The views expressed here are the author's own.
