Good Tuesday morning Connecticut, We're in the news cycle where two stories are dominating: weather and COVID-19. First, on the weather, the less said the better. We all know it is freezing cold out there, with temperatures struggling to reach the mid-teens Tuesday. Temperatures will fall into the single digits tonight, but it will be much warmer on Wednesday, with temperatures rising into the mid 30s. Saturday and Sunday look very cold, with high temperatures only in the 20s, but as of now the chance for snow has diminished this weekend. In fact, the weather service shows no precipitation through next Monday. And as for the COVID-19 update in CT, the weekend infection rate was 23.68 percent and hospitalizations rose by 79 to 1,889. Gov. Ned Lamont made news Monday by saying there will be no statewide indoor mask mandate, despite the increasing cases and hospitalizations. Animal rescue and sanctuary needs to find a new home Fox 61 has the story of the Roadside Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary which is in need of a new home after the property they've been renting has been sold. Over the past five years, Kaitlyn and Ed Judd have assisted 600 plus animals find homes, Fox 61 reports. The family is searching for another rental property and wants to remain in Connecticut. They are currently located in Windham. A GoFundMe page has been created and has raised $2,000 thus far. On the GoFundMe page, it states: "In 2020, our intended "forever home" and rescue location was sold. In the midst of a pandemic and economic housing crisis. "After over a year of being turned down by countless landlords, spending upwards of $2,000 on just application fees and fighting a lengthy legal battle as well as fighting tirelessly for our beloved sanctuary animals- our family, children and animals will be homeless in January of 2022. Our potential to be able to find a large enough home for our family alone, here in CT with the EXCEEDINGLY competitive market at this point is fading. We need to make a different move. Our options are exhausted. "We have put this off as frankly- it's an embarrassment. We are a hardworking family and community loving folks, who pride ourselves on being honest and responsible and now we can't do this without you," the family wrote in the GoFundMe post.
