ARLINGTON, VA — A Maryland man is facing multiple firearm charges in connection with a shooting incident that occurred Sunday night in the Maywood area, according to the daily crime report from the Arlington County Police Department.
Officers responded around 10:46 p.m. to the 2500 block of 20th Road North for the report of shots being heard. Police learned that the first victim had been involved in an argument with a man who took his firearm. When the victim tried to take it back, the man fired the gun and ran off. No injuries were reported, according to police.
After a preliminary investigation, officers identified the man they were looking for as Nigel McDonald, 38, of Oxon Hill, Maryland and obtained warrants for his arrest. After determining McDonald was inside a hotel room in the 3300 block of Lee Highway, the officers established a perimeter and took him into custody without incident.
During their investigation, police learned that while McDonald was in the hotel room he had argued with a second victim and pointed a firearm at them, according to the report.
Police charged McDonald with discharge of a firearm, grand larceny of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon and brandishing a firearm. McDonald is currently being held without bond.
