The department had over 400 total calls for potentially COVID-positive individuals, translating to nearly 400 hours spent cleaning and sterilizing the ambulances. South Burlington Fire and Though Rescue Chief Terry Francis recognized that this is part of the job, he encouraged everyone to get vaccinated and wear a mask to stop the spread. (WCAX)A Burlington warming shelter has seen its guest intake nearly triple since last winter. The Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity runs a daytime warming shelter out of the South Winooski Avenue VFW, where people can access a variety of amenities like warm meals and dry clothes. Last winter, the center saw about 25 guests each day; this winter, those numbers are closer to 60 to 75 people. (WPTZ)A man has been charged with aggravated assault and drug trafficking after threatening to shoot his partner. Burlington police responded to a call on North Champlain Street, where they found 54-year-old Terrence Anderson and the victim. Anderson was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and suspected fentanyl; his residence also contained a safe with $17,300 in cash, large quantities of various drugs, and loaded magazines for his firearm.
