HOUSTON, TX — Nearly 20 educational organizations in the Greater Houston area were given the Texas Association of School Business Professionals Award of Merit, the organization announced last week. TASBO honored 19 organizations in the Houston area, including 18 school districts. The award is given for following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services. In 2022, 53 organizations earned the award, including school districts, open-enrollment charter schools and education services centers. The award has been given out annually since 2009. "As Texas school districts face ever-increasing pressure to use funds efficiently, we're honored to recognize the work our honorees do to streamline operations, comply with regulations, and set the standard for how to utilize taxpayer dollars," TASBO Executive Director Tracy Ginsburg said. Each year, TASBO officials review the award criteria to ensure it aligns with current best practices and reviews both new and recertification applications from organizations across the state. "Responsible use of taxpayers' dollars is a duty not taken lightly," Conroe ISD Director of Purchasing Rick Reeves said in a news release. "We are proud of being recognized for our dedication to conscientious fiscal management."
