Description
LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Police Department has extended its participation in "No Shave November" through February. Members of the department are once again participating in the annual event, which involves officers growing beards and mustaches to raise awareness of various cancers.
Participating officers must make a donation to be allowed to grow facial hair and be excused from the department's uniform guidelines, according to the Village newsletter. Female officers and staff members can also participate in the event by painting their fingernails, which is also restricted by guidelines.
A portion of all proceeds will be matched by the Lemont Police Benevolent Association. Proceeds raised through February will benefit a Lemont family currently battling childhood cancer.
According to the Village, last year, the department raised over $4,000 from the event. Anyone wishing to donate to this cause can drop off or send donations to the Lemont Police Department, Attn: Commander Dykshorn, 14600 127th Street, Lemont, IL 60439. Checks can be made out to the Lemont Police Benevolent Association with "No Shave November" in the memo section.
