GRESHAM, OR — If the holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year, we've just entered the most caloric time of the year. Around the area, Girl Scouts are fanning out, their parents are calling relatives, the pressure is on. What's happening? It's Girl Scout Cookie Season. "Local Girl Scouts do incredible things with their cookie earnings," Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington CEO, Karen Hill, said. "Whether earning their way to camp or funding a service project, they're setting goals and serving as leaders in their own lives and in their communities." In addition to the usual lineup of cookies – Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs, Lemonades, Do-Si-Dos, and more – the scouts have introduced a new cookie: Adventurefuls. The scots say that they are "indulgent brownie-inspired cookies topped with caramel flavored creme with a hint of sea salt." All money raised by scouts through cookie sales goes back to the troops to help fund their activities. While the season doesn't really get going until February 18 – at that point you can go to this site and look up the troop nearest you – several scouts already have their order forms and are selling online. Cookie season ends on March 13 so mark that on your calendar.
