The Buffalo Grove Police Department issued 39 seat belt citations during the recent holiday enforcement effort, which took place from December 17, 2021 to January 3, 2022.
During the enforcement period, Buffalo Grove Police also issued the following: four distracted driving citations, four speeding citations and four additional traffic citations.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this effort to save lives by getting impaired drivers off the roads and more people buckled up. During the mobilization, extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours, when statistics show the greatest number of driving fatalities occur due to unbuckled and impaired drivers.
The campaign was funded by federal traffic safety funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
