AURORA, IL — "The Diary of Anne Frank" is a work many high school students have read over the years. In the coming weeks, West Aurora Theatre Troupe 2013 will be performing the seminal work in an upcoming production.
For two days, on Jan. 21 and 22, high school thespians will perform Wendy Kesselman's adaptation of the book.
"In Wendy Kesselman's gripping new adaptation of the original stage play by [Frances] Goodrich and [Albert] Hackett, survivor accounts and newly discovered writings from the diary of Anne Frank are interwoven to create a contemporary impassioned story of those persecuted under Nazi rule," reads the play's description.
According to West Aurora High School's synopsis of the production, Kesselman's adaptation is meant to show a new generation the horrors of the Holocaust.
Both shows will begin at 7 p.m. in the high school's auditorium, located at 1201 W. New York St. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $5 or at the door for $7.
