Hello, Boulder/Denver area bird-lovers: I'm fostering a mellow pair of pied cockatiels until they find a suitable forever home. Their longtime, caring owner died last month, and they've been living in an empty apartment (with daily food provided by a visitor) until now. Shadow (female, age 21) and Ricky (male, 17) enjoy a quiet lifestyle, with lots of time spent siting side by side on a perch, and plenty of dozing throughout the day. The duo is not very vocal, except when a new person enters the room. Happiest sitting atop their cage, looking out at the world.
Although they're shy at the moment, they were clearly hand-tame in their previous home, and they show signs of becoming so again. They have separate cages, but they greatly prefer to be housed in the same cage. Fed a seed and pellet diet in the past, we've added fresh veggies to their menu. Wings are not trimmed, but they don't seem to have flight experience.
Their previous owner saved all their health records from Mesa Vet Hospital in Golden where the avian specialist has offered to provide them with a complimentary health exam when they go to their new home.
Note that they're a 'package deal' because they're so bonded.
Be in touch if you're interested in adding this sweet senior couple to your home.
