Description
I’m a guitarist that plays blues, country, rock & roll, folk and jazz. Influences- Keith Richards, Dylan, Clapton, Tom Petty to name a few. Currently I’m listening to Paul McCartney’s ‘Kisses on the Bottom’- (he does songs from 40s and 50s soft jazz styles) just ordered the song book to learn some of the songs. And I write songs in different styles. I can sing songs in a Dylan or M Jagger (early Stones R and R songs) style, but don’t have a strong melodic voice. Play a bit of piano/keyboard, know the chords and scales- so can play rhythmic accompaniment on keyboard. And I started playing drums again, bought a Gretch set 6 months ago.
Working with a female singer will be nice. If a singer is interested, give me 5 favorite songs or so and group/singer to see if we share similar music ideas.
Guitarists- Playing songs by other groups/artists is great, which we can do, but I want to work on creating songs with a co-writer (can be an instrumental or write lyrics and a melody together). Writing chord progressions with rhythms with momentum (strumming or fingerpicking) can come easy to me-which are often blues, jazz or a song with minors, suspended, major 7th and diminished 7th chords.
The challenging part can be writing good lyrics and melody to fit the chord progression.
For an example of my lyrical writing, this is ‘What is Haunting Me’. Chords are minor and suspended chords. This is a unique theme for this one, I’ve written songs also on more recognizable and known themes.
