>[..... So, let's do the "comparison" bozo, shall we: 214 children 17 years old or younger >have died of COVID-19 so far this year in the country. Now, if you had a brain and had >the intellect to grasp and analyze the full context of the "comparison" data, you would >get that 214 deaths 'in the country', (that's nationwide to those of us with a brain), equates >to an average of 4.28 children (per state) 17 years old or younger have died of COVID-19. >(One) city, 'Chicago', in (one) state, 'Illinois', had 41children 17 years old or younger die >of gun violence. Does anything bother you about this "relevant statistic" I present to you >in comparing (41 to 4.28). Interesting, as I remember it, your original post seemed to be drawing the conclusion that democratic/liberal cities were violent or some such thing (I did not copy your writings so I am doing this from memory.) I then complained that you are comparing the number of children who died from covid nationwide against the number of children in chicago who were injured by gun violence (including death). I then do some research and find a fox article that says pretty much of what you parroted except they point out that only 41 childern in chicago died of gun violence. You then take the number of children in the country who died of covid and divide it by the number of states and come up with the number 4.28 (214/50) as the average number of covid deaths per state. You take that number and compare it to the 41 gun violence deaths of children in chicago and then essentially say 41 is a hell of a lot bigger than 4.28 especially since 4.28 is the average per state and 41 is only for chicago. The question is does this comparison prove anything other than you can play with numbers and do simple arithmetic. I assume what you are trying to conclude is that in "liberal Democratic Chicago" gun violence is a bigger threat than covid. (and even then it would only be applicable to children) BUT if you want to conclude that at least use the appropriate set of facts. You would probably need to compare: 1) The number of covid deaths of children in Chicago against the number of gun deaths of children in Chicago 2) The number of covid infections of children in Chicago against the number of gun injuries of children in Chicago. I assume if you are comparing injuries you would also need to assign some kind of weight to the severity of the injury with I guess death having the heaviest weight. The bottom line is this, violence in Chicago has spiked and it is a problem that needs to be addressed (as is violence in other parts of the country also). Covid is a problem in this country as well as world wide and it needs to be addressed. Your manipulation of numbers has not shed any light on either problem. You got your information from some right wing site whose purpose was not to shed light on problems and solutions but instead was designed to sway people with bad use of data to draw conclusions that could only be drawn using smoke and mirrors. You don't list the source from which your original post was parroted because that would allow people to make better decisions about the facts and integrity of your "information". Why do you hide your source? What do you have to hide? THE TRUTH! When you basically plagiarize something, if you quote it and cite your source you go from being a criminal to being a quoter. Nothing wrong with quoting.
