Description

Cellist John Bennett performs works for the solo cello. The Suites for solo cello by J. S. Bach are well known, but other composers have written for solo cello as well. John will contrast the Bach Suite II with three 20th century compositions: Little Suite in G by Rick SowashSuite No. 1 by Ernest Bloch, andJulio-O by Mark SummerCellist John Bennett is a recent San Francisco Bay area transplant to Maine. He has been a cello instructor for more than 20 years and in California was a tenured member of the Vallejo and Napa Valley Symphonies, and also performed in chamber music and dyo recitals. John’s greatest love has always been helping and guiding students of all ages and levels achieve their musical goals. “I don’t teach the cello; I teach the human being, one of my teachers said to me. This has always been my guiding principle.” _____________________________________________________________________________________ SUPPORT NOONDAY The Portland Conservatory of Music's Noonday Concert Series presents music by our talented faculty and students.
