The Truth Behind the Magic of the Salem Witch Trials
Join in on the second session in a four-part workshop series on the Salem Witch Trials. This class will be held in person at Union & Co., Bath, ME, on Wednesday, February 16th, from 7-8 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
The Puritans feared that magic was only possible through the help of the devil and used this belief to persecute so-called “witches” during the trials. However, many members of the community still practiced folk magic in their daily lives. In this class we will learn all about the folk magic that occurred in Salem, from witch cakes to poppets to oomancy and more. We’ll explore the origins of these folk magic traditions, how they came into play in Salem, and even practice a form of divination together.
Sign up for the full workshop here or attend individual classes.
