Description

Restorative Yoga for Athletes. Hosted by the Park Ridge Cycling Club. Keeping the cycling family strong and supporting local businesses! This free, restorative yoga class is hosted by the Park Ridge Cycling Club , held at Wheel & Sprocket in Park Ridge and led by the welcoming Cindy Dienhart. What is Restorative Yoga? Restorative yoga is a practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. During the long holds of this practice your muscles are allowed to relax deeply. It's a unique feeling because props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body. Why should Athletes do Restorative Yoga? Restorative yoga aids recovery and, as a result, optimizes athletic potential and performance. As you power your movements, your body contracts and muscle fibers shorten. Restorative yoga helps you to gently open your body (joints, muscle, fascia) and release tightness and tension with simple postures, often supported by props, that are held longer than in typical yoga classes. This practice for athletes also uses gentle postures and movements to help restore fluidity to muscles, tissues, and joints, improving blood and lymph circulation into tight areas. Restorative Yoga for Athletes will open the body in a way that is conducive to deep relaxation and real recovery. Got Props? The more, the comfier.
