Opus 1- Trios and Solos is the first of a groundbreaking concert series in the Flathead Valley, led by the renowned violinist Wai Mizutani.
The Lord of the Strings is a new and exciting year-long concert series, envisioned and executed by the Juilliard grad, Manhattan School of Music alumni and world-renowned violinist Wai Mizutani. By inviting musicians from around the world to come to the Flathead Valley and perform, he aims to bring high class music and experiences to the communities around the area. The first of these concerts, Opus 1- Trios and Solos, will introduce you to Wei-Yi Sun, a Taiwanese professional pianist coming to us from Cincinnati, OH. As quoted from her website, "Recently, she has won many prizes including the first prize in the Women in Music Scholarship Audition, first prize in the OhioMTA Graves Piano Competition, and gold medal winner in the Forte International Music Competition at Carnegie Hall, New York." (https://www.pianistweiyisun.com/). As a dedicated musician as well as teacher, Wei-Yi is thrilled to be able to bring her craft to the Valley and collaborate with two of our own! We will also be hearing the lovely Jessica Chen, a professional cellist and teacher in the Flathead Valley, also an alumni of the Manhattan School of Music.
Come, sit back, relax, and open you mind and ears to the wonderful sounds of this historic collaboration on January 30th! We hope to see you there!
