Description

Presented by P82 Project Restoration. We exist to help you help the vulnerable, overlooked people who have nowhere to go. A Note to Pastors,We know how hard you work. And we know how things have changed since COVID entered the world. It's our heart to serve you and your congregation, not to add one more program or ministry into the mix. We are not here to point out yet another thing you are not doing, quite the opposite. One way to know if this training is right for your church is, if someone who is already a member (and a leader) of your body springs to mind when you think of crisis care and mercy ministry. If that's the case, keep reading because we want to support what you are probably already doing... ~Matthew and Deborah Geesling A Little BackgroundMy husband Matthew and I started P82 Project Restoration in 2014 with a heart to help those who are marginalized in our communities. This sprang out of the difficulties we experienced in trying to access care for our son who battles a significant disability. We have been members of Center Church in Gilbert, AZ for over 28 years and consider their support invaluable. As part of former Gilbert Mayor John Lewis's Task Force on Substance Use and Mental Illness, a training was created with experts from the field and community leaders. Our organization has the privilege of continuing to provide this course for churches in our community. The focus of the training is on serious mental illness and will have several special speakers. Once the training is complete, you can incorporate these tools for most crisis situations. Why Crisis Care Team Trainings? The local church is often the first point of contact for people struggling with complex difficulties. Individuals who have significant needs can feel isolated and alone. They may not know how to reach out or believe they are not welcome in our churches. As a church, we may not understand how to identify the signs of a family at risk or know where to connect them to more appropriate resources that may move beyond our calling and expertise. "It is critical these individuals get the help and healing they need and I am proud to support P82 Project Restoration.” - Former Gilbert Mayor, Jenn DanielsOur Training will Help by:Raising the level of awareness about families at risk.Recognizing the early warning signs to prevent a crisis.Responding to individuals and families at risk in a compassionate and confident way that is consistent with your vision.Resourcing families beyond the scope of a church's capability.Running long distance along side of families. The goal of a Crisis Care Team is to bring support around the family or individual in crisis to help them assess, plan, and implement a holistic solution for the one who needs care as well as the caregiver. "P82 works to address a critical need in our community." - Bob Badgett, Fire Department Assistant Chief, Gilbert, AZA Crisis Care Team:Supports and works well with church leadership and team members.Does not require legal certification.Designed to come alongside of families and individuals.Trained to recognize, respond, and if needed connect to certified providers. Is not a counseling team or medical advisors.Data and fact gatherers, solution focused."And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful." - Titus 3:14 What past attendees liked about the training,"The encouragement to the church to function as a "hospital" with compassion. I would say a Crisis Care Team would be (something like) "First Aid," or an advocacy liaison, etc." "Useful information to lay a foundation to help those with mental illness. I wish we could have gone longer." "Thank you! You guys go above and beyond." "The personal touch, the speakers were good." "The ability to ask questions." Learn more at p82homes.org.
