NATICK, MA — A Framingham-based tech company will pay $30,000 to sponsor a scenic overlook along the new portion of the Cochituate Rail Trail (CRT) in Natick. Punchbowl, which sells online invites and greeting cards, recently purchased the 10-year sponsorship, according to the Friends of Natick Trails (FNT) group. FNT has been selling an array of sponsorships to pay for maintenance along the trail, including benches, bricks — and one other 10-year scenic overlook sponsorship. Last month, the family of two longtime educators from Framingham purchased a $5,000 bench sponsorship along the trail. The new CRT section between Route 30 and near Natick Center opened over the summer, offering a new 4-mile greenway beginning in Saxonville. The trail ends near Mechanic Street in Natick, but will soon extend to the Natick Center MBTA Station, which is undergoing a major renovation. The Natick Select Board will likely vote to accept the Punchbowl sponsorship at the meeting scheduled for Wednesday.
