BROOKFIELD, WI— The City of Brookfield is proposing amending an ordinance which includes changes to how many days a festivals, fairs, or carnivals can be held.
The limit would be for no more than 12 days per year at a property, no more than four days at a time, and no more than six days per application, according to the city's website.
The topic was discussed on Dec. 21 during the Legislative and Licensing committee meeting.
"The reason behind the amendment is to limit the number of days for carnivals, fairs, and festivals, to ensure the ordinance complies with due process requirements, and allow the Police and Fire Department to shut down festivals if they not in compliance with the ordinance," Jenna Merten, city attorney said.
A public hearing is set for 7:45 p.m. Jan. 18 at Brookfield at City Hall, 2000 North Calhoun Road.
