Description

Zakiya and Ollan….back by popular demand! COST? $40 per person (includes a meal) In a 2021 concert that made the front page of the local newspaper, international musicians, and Douglasville residents, Zakiya Hooker and Ollan Bell accompanied by Anthony Reed and Anthony Cook headlined a performance at Douglasville’s Vine Café & Market that, said several, “was off the chart!” Thus, “Love Is” is a repeat of that performance, this time with more selections and accompanied by a live band. Masks & full vaccination are required. Zakiya Hooker is the daughter of the late Grammy winner blues legend John Lee Hooker. In 1991 Zakiya made her first public appearance with her father. Since then, she has performed all over the globe, including performances with Etta James, Jon Hammond, Taj Mahal, Peter Green, Narada Michael Walden, Charlie Musselwhite and many more. In 1993, Zakiya released her first CD "Another Generation of The Blues.” In 1997, she released "Flavors of The Blues” and in 2001 recorded a live release in Buenos Aires, Argentina, "Colors of The Blues.” Ollan Christopher Bell, AKA Chris James, co-founded the R&B group, The Natural Four in 1967. They received notoriety in the early ‘70’s after signing onto Curtis Mayfield’s label, Curtom Records. The group reigned under the production of Leroy Hutson, the former lead singer of the R&B vocal group, The Impressions. From 1972 to 1976 the Natural Four performed globally, toured the US and appeared on major venues including the Apollo Theater and numerous TV shows including Soul Train and American Bandstand. Bell’s book, “Music Saved My Life,” chronicles how music has been his lifesaver. Guest Musicians: Anthony Cook, Anthony Reed and the HIS Band will be performing that evening.
