FREEPORT, NY — Cases of COVID-19 on Long Island have tailed off since last week. However, the positivity rate is still over 25 percent.
Health officials encourage residents to get fully vaccinated to avoid the more serious effect of the virus.
The Town of Hempstead is holding its "Vaxmobile," in conjunction with Mount Sinai South Nassau.
On Thursday, booster shots will be given by appointment only at the Freeport Recreation Center. It is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Original vaccination cards are required for boosters.
More than 70 percent of New Yorkers have completed their vaccine series, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul's office.
