BRADENTON, FL — A video shared on social media shows a large gator emerging from a pond with a fish in its mouth at Tara Golf & Country Club in Bradenton. In the video, the hungry gator makes his way across the golf course to a different pond, all while carrying his lunch. Mike Murphy filmed and shared the video on Facebook, writing, "Playing golf today…had to allow a gator to cross before we could finish the hole. Notice the big fish in his mouth." In a comment, Murphy said he filmed the gator while at hole No. 3 as it crossed over the pond on hole No. 4. Watch the video below: Gators have called Florida's marshes, swamps, rivers and lakes home for centuries, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The reptile can be found in all 67 of the state's counties. It's rare that gators cause serious injuries to people in Florida, FWC added. Those with concerns about an alligator can call FWC's toll-free Nuisance Alligator hotline at 866-392-4286. The FWC will dispatch one of its contracted nuisance alligator trappers to resolve the situation. On its website, the agency reminds residents and visitors of its safety precautions regarding gators. This includes never feeding an alligator and keeping your distance if you see one. People should also only swim in designated areas during daylight hours and keep pets on a lease and away from the water.
